Who We Are
At Child & Family Services of Eastern Virginia we envision a
strong community of healthy families and individuals. Our mission is
simple, really: to help people live better lives.
We strive to help individuals, from birth through their senior
years, develop the skills they need to effectively manage the
stresses of life. Created to meet the specific needs of the Hampton
Roads and Eastern Virginia area, our offerings include everything
from foster care placement and parenting classes, to financial
counseling for first-time homebuyers and bill-paying assistance for
seniors.
As our communities’ needs change, so do our programs. We’re
flexible. And we take a collaborative approach in helping people
live better lives.
A 501(c) 3 nonprofit United Way agency, Child & Family Services is
committed to excellence. We are a fully licensed organization,
accredited and recognized by Council
on Accreditation. We are dedicated to the individuals and
families we serve.
About Our Name
The name Child & Family Services of Eastern Virginia is relatively
new. It is the result of a partnership between two agencies that
have served this region for many years: Child & Family Services,
which dates to 1959; and Family Services of Tidewater, which began
in 1883.
In June 2004, the two agencies merged to form Child & Family
Services of Eastern Virginia. We are fortunate to have inherited
from both groups a long history of professionalism, integrity and
rapid response to changing community needs.
