Foster Parenting

If you have a safe, stable and loving home environment – and care about helping children in need – consider becoming a foster parent. Whether single, married, young, old, retired or working, nearly everyone can make a difference in the life of a child.

Child & Family Services of Eastern Virginia has three foster parenting needs:

  • Regular Foster Parents - open their homes to children and adolescents with minimal special needs.

  • Therapeutic Foster Parents - provide specialized parenting for children and youth with special needs. These are generally children who have not thrived in regular foster care.

  • Respite Foster Parents - provide respite to other foster parents when they need to take a temporary break.

Child & Family Services offers introductory and ongoing training classes, as well as 24-hour support and financial compensation. There are no fees involved with being a foster parent.

If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please complete the Foster Parent Inquiry Form. Be advised that our service area covers only prospective foster parents who live within a 100 mile radius of Portsmouth, Virginia.

If you are already an Up Center foster parent, but don't have information on how to login to our Foster Parents Only site, please email Christa Paulosky or call at 757.397.2121, ext. 331.
