Celebrating 125 Years

The Up Center understands the complex struggles individuals and families face. From foster care placement and parenting classes, to family financial counseling and assistance for seniors, we offer an array of creative programs and services to help prevent and solve problems. Each year, we touch the lives of more than 10,000 people in Hampton Roads and Eastern Virginia.

We’re here to give a hand Up.

The Up Center congratulates Board Member Maurice Jones on his appointment as publisher of The Virginian-Pilot.  Click here for more information.

The Up Center has expanded to five locations. In early April the agency opened its newest office in Norfolk near the Virginia Beach border. Earlier this year, the agency also opened an office in Suffolk.

The Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership Prize was presented to Edward J. Welp, president & CEO of The Up Center, at the 7th Annual Hampton Roads Institute for Nonprofit Leadership Conference on February 27. Welp received $1,000 for professional development and an additional $1,000 was presented to The Up Center.  Click here for more information.
