At Child & Family Services of Eastern Virginia, we believe in
fitness for a lifetime. That’s why we offer Body Recall, a safe,
tested program of gentle exercise, especially for seniors. The idea
is to recall, restore and revive the body through simple, pain-free
movements that will improve flexibility, strength and an overall
sense of well-being. The program is intended to be challenging for
all levels of fitness and can benefit everyone, including those with
chronic illness, special needs and limited mobility, as well as
those who are recovering from surgery. Studies show that even people
in their 90s, who have never exercised before, can become more
physically fit and live longer and better – even if they have health
problems. It’s never too late to start! Body Recall is conducted in
45 states. Child & Family Services is implementing this program in
Hampton Roads and Eastern Virginia. Visit

research findings, practical information, and skill building to help
participants manage particular behaviors more effectively.

Batterer’s Intervention Groups
Offered in the evenings in both Norfolk and Portsmouth
An ongoing 18 week series to address domestic violence. Satisfies
local Courts’ requirements. If court ordered, we will report
attendance and completion to the court. The goal is to end violence
within relationships and create respectful ways to disagree. There
is a separate women’s group for women who are batterers.
Adult Anger Management Group
Offered in the evenings in both our Portsmouth and Norfolk offices
An ongoing 12 to 18 week series which focuses upon an
individual’s responsibility to manage themselves. Efforts are
directed at learning how to interrupt the escalation process and
identifying one’s “triggers” so alternative actions are available.
These groups are for both women and men.
Adolescent Anger Management Groups
Offered after school hours, with classes in both our Norfolk and
Portsmouth offices
Research based groups similar to our Adult Anger Management
Group but specifically designed for teenagers. Parental involvement
is necessary at the beginning and end of this 12 week cycle. We have
found that parental involvement is very important so there is
consistent support and encouragement for behavioral changes. These
groups are co-educational.
“Coping Skills Gone Crazy”
Is there something in your life that you are doing too much of?
Is this compulsion or abusive behavior affecting the quality of your
life? The good news is you are not alone. Whether is it alcohol,
drugs, food, shopping, or bad relationships etc., we all develop
patterns and coping mechanisms that can become unhealthy and out of
control. Join us in an innovative group setting open to all
individuals who want a change. You will learn real ways to regain
the focus and quality in your life through this educational and
supportive environment.
“Friendship Un-Endings”
Have you ever been “dumped” or “wanted out” of a
relationship…with a friend? It is more common and maybe more easy to
talk about our feelings when it comes to leaving or staying in a
romantic relationship. What about talking about unresolved feelings
with a meaningful friendship? Whether you are the “Initiator “(the
one who wants out of the friendship), the “Receiver” (the one who is
being eluded), or just interested in learning how to become a better
friend, join our new women’s group.
