Ways You Can Help

There are children and families in crisis in Hampton Roads and Eastern Virginia. And when families struggle, it’s most often the children who become victims. The Up Center is making a difference by educating, supporting and strengthening individuals and families in our community.

You, too, can make a difference in the life of a child or a family in need:

If you have a safe, stable and loving home, consider becoming a foster parent to a child or providing a home to an adult with mental retardation.
Make a monetary donation. Your tax-deducible gift goes a long way toward supporting and extending all of our programs and services.
Give to our Annual Campaign, which ends June 30 each year. Our contributors are listed in our Annual Report.
Designate The Up Center (#5017) in your work-related United Way contribution
Provide an in-kind donation. In particular, we need items for our annual silent auction (for example: gift certificates to the theatre, sporting events, restaurants, spas, salons and regional attractions).
Consider planned giving through bequests in wills and trusts, naming Child & Family Services as the beneficiary in your life insurance policy or retirement plan or establishing a charitable gift annuity
Volunteer. We frequently need people who can assist with light clerical duties in our offices, as well as those who can help staff our food bank.
